NATIONAL COMPETITION
A mainstay of the Annual Convention, the National Forging and Horseshoeing Competition draws a large and international crowd--of competitors and spectators. This year’s competition takes place in Chattanooga, where contestants will vie for cash and prizes. Many of them will also be competing for an opportunity to represent the AFA as a member of the American Farriers’ Team.
Judges for this year’s competition are Conrad Trow, CJF; Austin Edens, CJF; and Steven Beane, AWCF. Past classes have included the North American Challenge Cup: Qualifier Class and Live Shoeing Class; the Delta Specialty Forging Class; the Concave Hunter Class; the Two-Person Draft Class, and the Journeyman Class. Contestants who meet the age requirement (60 or over) can also compete in the Vern Hornquist Memorial Class.
